About the Webinar:
In 2019 the Government committed to repeal and replacement of the 1992 Mental Health Act. This followed submissions to the 2018 He Ara Oranga Inquiry. After a period of public submissions, Manatū Hauora convened an Expert Advisory Group to advise on new legislation, which is currently in the drafting process.
The key issues for College members are:
-
Recognition within the legislation of a Te Ao Māori world view,
-
Assessment and decision making within the new legislation,
-
The likely introduction of a capacity based standard,
-
Recognition of advance directives,
-
Supported decision making.
Please join us for this first (of many webinars on this process) where these issues will be briefly outlined with an opportunity for discussion and formulation of a College strategy on the final form of the new legislation.
