Health promotion opportunities and resources

The Starship Foundation have launched a new app Village. Founded on the basis that it takes a village to raise a child this App has been developed to connect 13 to 25 year olds to connect them with trusted friends and whanau, so they don’t have to go it alone. Clinically researched and developed by Starship experts in collaboration with rangatahi and whanau, Village is a safe space for young people to process and share their feelings with a trusted network, when and how often they like. With Village, young people take control of their own wellbeing. www.villageapp.kiwi.

Le Va provide a wide range of wellbeing, mental health and addiction workforce and community resources focused on Pasifika communities. Their website www.leva.co.nz has some great links and resources to explore Atu-Mai violence prevention eLearning modules Equipping Pasifika young people and families with tools to strengthen their self-worth through culture and have respectful relationships, Atu-Mai eLearning modules are free, interactive, and can be experienced anytime, anywhere. Let your young person know!

Professional Development

Te Rau Ora (formerly Te Rau Matatini) are celebrating 20 years of supporting best practice from a Te Ao Maori perspective, with an online event. Toitu Hauora is occurring over the next month with a variety of online events. These can be accessed live or via recording at your convenience. If you want to further develop your understanding of working with young people and their whanau, there are some high quality e-learning packages provided by Wharaurau, to help us understand the developmental theory of our tamarki and to provide the best care for them. https://wharaurau.org.nz/elearning/ICAMH

Credentialing Info/Updates

As we are starting to get more contacts from nurses that completed programmes across 2020-2021, we continue to provide zoom drop in meetings to assist nurses to complete their credentialing applications. Our amnesty on applications will continue for another 3 months and we are keen to hear from nurses who have completed a programme and still wish to complete their credential. Details of the drop in links and times are on your PIO frontpage or please contact us at credentialing@nzcmhn.org.nz
