I am currently the Director of Nursing for mental health, addiction, and intellectual disability services: Te Whatu Ora: Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley and the Wairarapa districts.
I have been working as a mental health nurse since the late 80s. I am incredibly passionate about great nursing care being provided to tāngata whaiora and tāngata whaikaha by our nurses and mental health support workers. That all neehi practice with compassion, professionalism and provide evidenced based care.
I have been a member of Te Ao Māramatanaga since my return to Aotearoa in the early 2000’s, and prior to that a member of the Australia and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses. I believe that our college provides the voice of MHAIDS nursing in NZ, setting the standards of practice for MHAIDS nurses, lobbying for our speciality and ensuring that our nursing voice is heard in national decision making.
I feel very privileged to be part of the board.
