Fixed Term/Contract/Full Time

Job no: BSAH2137755

Location: Mental Health Services (Kensington Centre)

                                                                          Closing Date: Open

Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?

Right now, we’re looking for a proven Leader to bring to life all of the recommendations identified as being the key outcomes of our comprehensive review of MHA services within South Canterbury.

You will be instrumental in ensuring these are fully integrated together with the priorities which have been developed around strategic direction for Mental Health and Addiction Services nationally, (including Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan 2020-2025).

In this critical Leadership role, you will be responsible for managing significant change – this includes being able to balance collaboration with the ability to make tough calls when needed. Therefore, having a strong basis of understanding and respect for clinical leadership, being able to work alongside clinical leaders, but also to be able to challenge the status quo is essential.

Health system understanding (especially within MHA) will be a strong advantage.

You will be someone with exceptionally strong project management skills, (who has proven success at overseeing/completing large scale projects in the past), be adept at financial management, can demonstrate past success with procurement of services, where this role will need to align service changes with budgets and reporting.

You’ll have the ability to engage collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders that span the continuum of care provision across our District, and so you need to be able to quickly establish trust and credibility, while also being outcome-focused, able to work to deliver key deliverables within agreed timeframes.

This is a rare and genuine opportunity for you to use your skills in critical thinking, problem solving and change management on a defining project which has the potential to future proof the approach and direction that MHA services will take locally.

If you’ve always wanted to prove your inspirational leadership in a critical industry such as health, this moment is yours!

Why choose South Canterbury DHB?

As one of the country’s smaller DHBs, our people always have room to move and grow. You’ll enjoy the advantages of a flat team structure, where processes run smoothly and there are no barriers to leadership or innovation.

On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, that long-coveted work-life balance is truly achievable here.

At SCDHB, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your approach to work, we can’t wait for you to join us.
