Mō te tūranga – About the role

The Early Intervention Nurse will provide a recovery-oriented service specifically for Whānau Whaiora or following a first presentation to mental health services. The expectation of this role is to work collaboratively with Whānau Whaiora and Whānau by increasing their knowledge on all aspects of this condition. Empower Whānau Whaiora and Whānau to make informed decisions that will reduce duration and severity of the condition and contribute to Whānau Ora outcomes working within a multi-disciplinary team. The role supports whānau to access the right care at the right time through holistic, culturally responsive practice.

·      Kia ekena a angitū – To promote success in this role, you will have

·      Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand

·      A current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate (APC)

·      Met the requirements of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003

·      A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence

·      A minimum of two years’ experience in a mental health setting

·      Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment

·      A sound understanding of mental health, consumer and advocacy issues

·      Demonstrated application of evidence-based best practice in mental health

·      Knowledge of legislation, regulations and standards governing clinical practice

·      Experience using Client Management Systems (preferred)

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail

·      Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

·      Proven ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

·      The ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism

·      High levels of integrity, reliability, self-management and professionalism

·      Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and make sound, fact-based decisions

·      A commitment to identifying, managing and mitigating risks

·      The ability to remain resilient, adaptable and solution-focused in a dynamic environment

·      A demonstrated understanding of the aspirations, strengths and challenges facing Māori communities

·      The ability to work in a culturally responsive manner and build meaningful relationships with Māori

·      Experience applying Tikanga Māori in practice is desirable
