I am a registered mental health nurse with over 28 years of experience working in the mental health services in Aotearoa (New Zealand)
My current role is the Associate Director of Nursing for the Mental Health, Addiction & Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS). We cover the greater Wellington regions, including Porirua, Kāpiti, Hutt Valley and the Wairarapa. I have work experience in the areas of Maori mental health, forensic community and in patient services, general mental health, acute mental health services and the mental health youth services.
I have been a member of Te Ao Māramatanga NZ College of mental health nurses Inc for the past 22 years. I am a member of the MHAIDS Kaumatua Kaunihera roopu and a member of our restrictive practices roopu
I am the Kaiwhakahaere for Te Ao Māramatanga and also a member of Māori caucus. I play a pivotal role in leading our Māori Caucus members. I am also an active member of the Wellington branch of Te Ao Māramatanga
My passion is to grow our mental health nurses into our future leaders and to ensure that our mental health nurses are clinically and culturally competent, to work with our whanau who present to the mental health services
